They Can Hide Most Aesthetic Flaws<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Veneers are thin sheets of dental porcelain that can be bonded to the outer surfaces of compromised teeth. These coverings can effectively conceal most minor aesthetic flaws in teeth, and can correct a wide range of issues including but not limited to: chipped or cracked teeth, staining and discoloration, gaps between teeth, and more. But for serious issues like severe decay or missing teeth, veneers aren\u2019t a viable option since they need a strong surface to be bonded to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. They Can Address One or Multiple Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Veneers can conveniently treat any number of teeth, so long as the teeth are suitable to receive veneers. Whether it\u2019s one tooth, two teeth, or an entire row, patients often have the freedom to pick and choose which teeth need treatment. Even partial veneers can be used to cover certain parts of teeth. Of course, your dentist will also provide insight and advice, in addition to clearing you for the treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The Process Takes a Little Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Veneers can\u2019t just immediately be placed onto your teeth; there\u2019s a bit of a particular process for receiving them. Your dentist must first prepare the teeth being treated by removing a small amount of enamel (usually 5mm or less) from their front surface. This allows the veneers to lay flush against your teeth and blend in seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your dentist must also take impressions of your mouth so that the veneers can be customized to fit inside. You might be given temporary veneers to wear while your permanent ones are being manufactured. Once they\u2019re ready, they can be bonded (usually during a second appointment a week or two later). However, when you compare this timeline to some of the other options that can sometimes take weeks or months to complete, it\u2019s relatively quick!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Minimal Extra Maintenance Is Required<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Veneers require very minimal extra maintenance; since they\u2019re bonded to your teeth, you simply need to continue to brush and floss daily as normal. This will preserve their integrity so that you\u2019ll hopefully get at least 10 or so years out of them. Of course, you\u2019ll still want to be mindful of poor oral habits like smoking, using your teeth as tools, and chewing on ice\u2014these habits might harm your veneers!
